Michael William Parkinson passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the age of 63 years. Mike was born on November 17, 1946 in London, Ontario. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario with Masters Degrees in Library Science and Philosophy. Mike moved to Calgary in 1975 where he spent most of his career working as an Instructor at SAIT in the Library Information Technology program. He was a lifetime supporter of the Green Bay Packers, later supporting the Minnesota Vikings. Mike's love of Bob Dylan and Joan Baez was constantly ""shared"" with family and friends. Mike was a loving and dedicated father, spouse, son, brother and friend. He maintained his sense of fun and humour until the very end. Mike is survived by wife Nancy MacKenzie; children Courtenay, Dylan, Jonathan and Michael Thomas; father William Patrick; brother Don (Fran) and cousin Brenda. He is lovingly remembered by Trudy, Gottfried, Eileen and Isabel and by the ""in group"" (you know who you are) at SAIT. He was predeceased by his mother Barbara Ann Parkinson. A Celebration of Mike's Life was held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca
