Michael Loeffler passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta, on Sunday, June 4th, 2023, at the age of 66. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sue; daughter Lisa (Jason Fleming) of Olds, Alberta; son Matthew (Liz Campeau) of Calgary, Alberta as well as his four beloved granddaughters and several other family members who will miss him dearly.
Mike grew up in Rosemont, Quebec, where he lived until moving to Calgary with Sue in 1981. That same year, Mike began working for the City of Calgary’s Water Services department and retired in 2019 after 38 years of loyal service. His love of the outdoors was evident in everything he enjoyed. He was an outdoorsman at heart with a passion for hunting, fishing for salmon in B.C., and gardening with his grandchildren. He was a terrific cook and loved to cook with what he grew. He was also a skilled artisan, excelling at leather crafts. Since retiring, Mike and Sue spent several months enjoying his love of travel throughout Europe.
Above all, what Mike was best known and loved for was his incredible sense of humour. Whether you’re 9 or 90, Mike could make you laugh with his clever quips, his animal sounds or simply barking, “No talking in the buffet line!” at any family gathering. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Special thanks to the staff at the Foothills Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mike’s name to AHEIA (Alberta Hunter Education Instructors Association) https://aheia.com.
