Marie Donaldson passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 and now joins her beloved husband Gordon who passed away in 1997. Together they enjoyed 45 years of adventure and love, travelling the world and sharing their strong faith. In Genesis 1:28 God directed mankind to be “fruitful and multiply” and Marie and Gordon obeyed that commandment to a tee, raising 5 boys, four of them born in a five year period in the 50’s.
Marie had a magnetic, energetic personality that extended from the sidelines of her son’s soccer games, to the seat of the Sunday School bus she drove, to the raising of Calgary Flames banners and to the mentoring of her grandchildren. Her license plate described her family background, “11 of 13” and illustrated her sense of humor.
She was the 11th of 13 children, born on December 22, 1934 in Mundare, Alberta to Samuel and Francis Osinchuk. She married Gordon in January, 1952 and they moved to Calgary where they raised their 5 boys, a clan which eventually blossomed into seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
She is survived in loving fashion by her compassionate sister Loretta and sons Jim ( Zoe), Gerry ( Janelle) Rob, ( Sharon) and Tim, and grandchildren Jodi ( Fraser), Alanna ( Domenyk), Nicole ( Dylan), Rena ( David), Madeline, Austin and Carter, and nine great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Marie will also be remembered by her extended family of nieces and nephews and dearest of friends. Marie was predeceased by her husband Gordon, son Andrew, daughter-in-law Cindy and 11 other siblings.
The family wishes to extend its sincere thanks to the entire staff at Monterey's Seniors Village for their compassionate care of Marie over the last six years.
