Born and raised in England, Malcolm had an adventurous spirit ignited by the stories and novels that Malcolm would lose himself in. Taking a student trip to Australia at a young age fueled this spirit. After returning to England, it wasn’t long before he set off on travels once again coming to Canada and its Wild West. The Rocky Mountains had a special place in his heart. Having a fun time working with Yesterday’s Children kept him in Canada longer than planned. This led to Malcolm meeting his wife of 53 years, Joan and raising their two children, Trevor Smith and Erin Guerreiro, as well as their four grandchildren, Javier, Phoenix, Abbigail and Tabitha Guerreiro.
Malcolm made deep friends who shared his love for camping.
Malcolm was predeceased by his brother Michael Smith and his parents May and Robert Pemberton.
We will cherish the wonderful memories created.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lake Minnewanka Parking Lot, Lake Minnewanka Scenic Dr, on Sunday, June 26 at 12:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Malcolm’s memory directly to the Alzheimer’s Society, Father Lacombe Care Centre, or to your local dementia support/research society.
