August 26, 1928 - February 22, 2012
After a long and courageous battle with leukemia, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend. Lorraine leaves to grieve her loving husband of sixty-three years, Archie, her children Larry (Nancy), Judy (Phil) Graham, Dave (Jennifer), Nancy (Paul) McCorquindale and Cathy (Russ) Polski, grandchildren Ken (Corrinne Yu) Scott, Jackie (Kevin) Bates, Alison Graham, Candice (Tyler) McLellan, Kaleigh, Kelsie and Shayne Scott, Mike and Jon McCorquindale, Stephanie and Anita Polski, and great grandchildren Keagan and Kanen McLellan and Chloe Scott-Yu. She is also mourned by her brothers Len (Lorrie) Swift, Don Swift, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorraine was truly a caring person and touched the lives of all she came in contact with. She volunteered her many talents with Eastern Star, Meals on Wheels, ‘88 Olympics, CWC, Samaritan’s Purse, Children’s Hospital, Westminster Presbyterian Church and many other organizations. She worked for Sears in customer service for many years. Lorraine was an active and energetic sportswoman. She grew up skiing, became a hockey wife, was an avid golfer and an accomplished curler at CWC (skip of the 1998 Alberta Master Curling Champions, among many other curling awards). Lorraine loved to knit, bake and especially enjoyed spending time with family. She has shared so much of herself with us all and she will always be in our hearts. A Memorial Service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 290 Edgepark Boulevard. N.W. Calgary on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. The service will be followed later that day by a celebration of her life at the Calgary Winter Club from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank Dr. J. Lategan and staff at the PLC, for their kindness and care during Lorraine’s illness. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lorraine may be made directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
