It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorraine Janet Jones, of Calgary, Alberta, formerly of Wynyard, Saskatchewan, on March 19, 2025, at the age of 72. Lorraine was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and passion for life.
Born on May 30, 1952, Lorraine was the cherished daughter of Steve Popadynetz and Anne Lalach. She was a devoted sister to her brothers Larry and David, and her sisters Jackie, Dolores, Brenda, and Darlene, and families. Lorraine will also be remembered with great love by her son, Derrick Foster, and her husband of many years, Glenn Jones.
Lorraine’s career was marked by her dedication and hard work, beginning at Milano’s and later at Madisons Restaurant. Before moving onto help assist with Glenn's business.
Upon retiring, Lorraine embraced her love for gardening and caring for the many plants she kept at home. Lorraine found great joy in cooking large meals for family gatherings and holiday events. Lorraine's love of decorating was evident in her home, particularly during the holiday seasons. Christmas was a time she truly cherished, as she would set up her extensive collection of holiday items, including her beloved Bay bells, a keepsake from many years past.
Lorraine was a lifelong sports fan, and had a special place in her heart for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders and the Calgary Flames. She enjoyed watching sports alongside her husband Glenn, creating many fond memories together.
Lorraine’s legacy of love, generosity, and the joy she brought to those around her will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A Memorial Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
