Lindsie was surrounded by her family when she passed into God's presence on May 2, 2013. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 37 years, Terrance; her children, Heather, Stephen and Christina Stephenson (Brad); her grandchildren, Aaron and Ayla Stephenson; her sister, Chrissie McIntyre and brother, Ron Dubetz (Vivian); her nieces and nephew, Carrie Karsgaard (Nathan), Laura McIntyre, Alexandra and Joshua Dubetz; her mother-in-law, Martha Haxton, and other treasured family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Christine and Stephen Dubetz, and her father-in-law, James Haxton.
Lindsie was born and raised in Lethbridge, and later moved to Calgary where she graduated with a BEd from the U of C. At various points in her life, Lindsie taught in the Rocky View school division. However, her passion for learning and her capacity to inspire new ways of seeing and thinking in others were evident in every aspect of her life.
Many books line her wooden shelves like bright-winged birds, but this collection of printed text, although cherished, was not the source of her wisdom or kindness. Her love for God and belief in the power of prayer informed everything that she did. With the intuitive eyes of her spirit, she saw the symbolism in a cracked autumn leaf, the lessons of a heart-shaped rock, and the beauty of the person sitting next to her. She did not need to be told, in order to know, or be shown, in order to understand.
Her devotion to her beloved family, her healing words, and her grace, will never be forgotten.
At Lindsie's request, a funeral will not be held, but the family will honour her life with a private service. Her family wishes to thank the staff at the Foothills ICU for their compassionate and loving care.
"She was bendable light: she shone around every corner of my day." Jerry Spinelli, Stargirl.
