Born in Vancouver, the son of Gertrude Annie Baker (Gerty) of England and Leopold Banford Sharpe. Del was predeceased by his two sisters, Doris Ennis and Jacqueline McInnes.
Del graduated from UBC in 1952 with a degree in Forestry and went on to serve with the RCMP in Jasper and Edmonton. In 1956 Del moved to Calgary, married Rae Sharpe (nee Woodman) and together raised five children. Del’s career in sales expanded during the rapid growth of Calgary during the 70’s. He was a partner in a number of small businesses and worked with Block Brothers Realty, Amherst Real Estate and Keith Homes.
Del will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley and his five children, Don (Donna), Dave (Lisa), Diane, Doug (Sally), Donna (Mark); eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Del is also survived by his two step-children, Paul and Catherine.
