Leland Gary Draper (known as “Lee”) was born on August 10, 1935 in Midale, Saskatchewan. He died on Sunday July 26, 2015 at the Agape Hospice in Calgary Alberta. Lee grew up in Midale, Saskatchewan and graduated from High School there. After gradation Lee moved to Alberta to work for Shell. He married Pat Slater on June 20, 1970 and they moved to England where Lee worked on the offshore rigs. They moved back to Calgary in 1973. In Calgary they adopted two girls Jennifer and Rebecca. In 1978 Lee and Pat and family moved to Pincher Creek. In 1988 the Draper family moved back to Calgary and Lee worked in Caroline until retirement in 1991 from Shell Canada. He then did consulting for oil and gas for a company called UMA and then became an instructor for SAIT. Lee is predeceased by his mother Florence Draper at the age of one and by his father Elder Draper. He is also predeceased by aunt Emeline, uncle August, cousins Lois Summers, Violet Davis, Lorraine Kolke and by his niece Laurel Lang who passed away on July 3, 2015. Lee is survived by his wife Pat, daughter Jennifer (Dean) Jordan and grandchildren Janessa, Savanna and Charlie of Calgary, daughter Rebecca (Caleb) Howden and grandchildren Jade, Brook and Cabe of Kentsville, Nova Scotia. He is also survived by his brother Neil (Levere) Draper currently resides in Minot, North Dakota, nephews and nieces Dakota, Sheri, David, Lisa and Robyn and families, sister-in-law Gayleen (Leroy) Lang of Chilliwack, BC and nephew Les Lang of Calgary, AB. A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220-4 Street NW Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Wednesday July 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Interment to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
