On November 9, 2023, the world lost a remarkable soul whose impact on those around her will forever be felt. Lara was a shining example of strength, resilience, and unwavering determination. Her departure leaves a void in our lives that can never be filled, but her enduring legacy will continue to inspire and guide us.

Lara was a woman of unwavering principles. Her stubbornness, although at times challenging, was a testament to her unyielding spirit. She had an unshakeable belief in the goodness of humanity and never hesitated to speak up for what was right. Lara's selflessness knew no bounds, as she took on the role of mother and grandmother to anyone whom she deemed to be in need of a mothering influence.

Lara immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1967 with her husband, Giulio, and two children in 1967. They spoke no English and had very little support, but worked hard to learn and grow as new Canadians while building a life together. As an immigrant, Lara embodied the true essence of bravery and hard work. Her tenacity brought her to new shores, where she built a beautiful future and made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.

Lara was not only pragmatic, but she possessed an incredible optimism even when things seemed at their worst. She embraced every opportunity to be kind with an undeniable enthusiasm, always seeing the silver lining even in the darkest of moments. Her vibrant spirit was infectious, lighting up the room wherever she went.

But most importantly, Lara was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Although her husband Giulio passed in 1988, she continued to treasure his memory through the care of her family. Above all else, she cherished the moments spent with her children, Julie, Peter, and Omar. Lara's unconditional love extended to her grandchildren, Elyse, Julian, Jocelyn, Sienna, and Santino, whom she adored with all her heart.

In celebrating Lara's life, we honour the incredible force of love that she emanated. She had an extraordinary ability to make others feel seen and heard, understood and valued. She touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, empathy, and unity. Lara reminded us all of the importance of standing up for what we believe in, never backing down even in the face of adversity.

Though our hearts ache with her absence, we find solace in the memories we shared with Lara, and that she has been reunited with her husband. She will forever remain etched in our hearts as the guiding light who taught us the true meaning of resilience and love. May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
