Jay, Kim passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the age of 87 years. She will be lovingly remembered by sons Dennis (Marianne) of London, ON, Normie (Rung) of Regina, SK, Keith (Teressa) of Citrus Heights, CA, Gordie (Mint) of Calgary, AB; daughter Vicki (Chris Leung) of Windsor, ON; siblings Judy (John Hui), Larry Fong (Anne), grandchildren Marisa, Jennifer, Kimberly, Isaac, Bridget, Joyce; nephew Billy, nieces Cindy (Duc), Rita, Rebecca, Rosanna (Mark). She was predeceased by her much loved husband Gene, mother Sui Gin Fong and father Fong Gwon Chen. Kim was born in Hoi Ping, China, moving to Hong Kong as a teenager before immigrating to Canada in 1958 to marry our Father. She first settled in Eston, SK before moving to Beechy, SK where she and Dad owned and operated the Beechy Cafe. In 1982 the family moved to Saskatoon where Dad co-established the Oceania Inn where Mom worked until her retirement. After Dad’s passing, she helped raise her grandchildren in Doha, Qatar and Windsor, ON, later moving to Regina, before settling in Calgary, AB. Mom’s love of family, kindness and concern for others will be remembered and treasured. The family would like to thank the staff of Wing Kei - Greenview for the compassionate care they provided Mom these last few years. A Funeral Service will be held at Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel, 915 Acadia Dr, Saskatoon, SK S7H 5N4 on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 2:00 pm with interment to follow in the Chinese section of Woodlawn Cemetery.
