After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Ken joined his parents, Fred and Katie Snider, brother Jimmy, sisters-in-law Mary and Gloria, father-in-law Mike Bunio and brother-in-law Steve Hnatiuk.
Ken is lovingly remembered by his wife Diane and their five children: Stacey Green, Ron (Michelle), Sheri (Sam) Parsons, Tammie and Chad
He is also missed by his sisters, Shirley (Bill) Ripley and Kathy (Stewy) Stewart; brothers Larry, Harry, Rodney and Robert; mother-in-law Katie Bunio; sisters-in-law Verna, Anne (Cliff) and Joan; grandchildren Justin (Chelsey), Raeleene (Chase), Kennidee, Morgan, Quinlan, Stephanie (Mike) and Dallas; great-grandchildren Mason and Bowdy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ken lived his life to the fullest. His first venture was owning a successful paving business with his brother Harry. He began his career in Real Estate in Calgary in 1971. His love for the country and animals grew and soon he moved his family
to a farm in Redwater but remained active in Real Estate in Edmonton. Many hours were spent on the tractor working the land, but on Saturdays when he saw Liz and Larry pull into the yard, he headed home, parked the tractor and the fun began. With friend Ron Prodaniuk, he opened carriage Real Estate in Redwater. His next venture was building "Whispering Pines", an Equestrian Centre and Banquet Hall located on the farm. Many good times were had by all at the banquets and dances! In 1983, Ken moved his family back to Calgary where he continued in Real Estate. Developing land in the country soon became his next challenge.
Ken and Diane took several trips. It was on a trip to Costa Rica, he came across a painted feather. Being quite an artist himself, he was intrigued. When he came home, he tried painting on a feather. This soon turned into a great passion for him. He also had a great passion for his racing pigeons. Raising and flying them gave him great pleasure. He spent many hours at the kitchen table, looking out the window, waiting for his birds to come home
During his journey through life many treasured friendships were made, and he truly enjoyed visiting with everyone. The family would like to express their great appreciation for the care and kindness Dr. Samis and the nursing staff on Unit 43 at the Peter Lougheed Centre provided.
