It is with profound sadness that the Griffin family announces the passing of Ken Griffin, age 58, at Foothills Hospital where he was surrounded by loved ones. Ken fought a courageous battle against cancer and will be remembered for his deep enthusiasm for life, his commitment to his family, his passion for music and painting, and, above all, his love for Jesus Christ his personal Lord and Saviour. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Annelore, two daughters Laurie and Jessica, and son Joel; his parents Fred and Margaret and his six brothers and sisters: Cathy, Barbara, John, Bev, Dave and Bob. Ken was born and raised in Victoria B.C. where he eventually met the love of his life, Annelore. They both moved to Alberta – first Edmonton where they began their family and then Calgary where Ken enjoyed his career as a systems analyst, working for many years at Enersul. On his spare time, Ken loved playing drums with his band, Paradigm Shift, and was a prolific painter. Before his illness took over, he spent many evenings and weekends feeding and praying for the homeless at the Street Church in downtown Calgary. A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. The Griffin family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the palliative care unit 47 at Foothills Hospital, for their care and compassion. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
