We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Katy Evelyn Rose Hogan on Saturday, May 15th at the age of 26 years. Katy was born in Shrewsbury England in September of 1994 and would move to Calgary with her family in 1998.
Katy was a real cutie, huge blue eyes, smiling and laughing from the get go and stubborn as a mule growing up. She had her own mind and an hilarious sense of humour. She loved football (soccer) and played for quite some time growing up. She showed she had the talent and determination to potentially play professionally, perhaps even for the team she loved, Manchester United. Katy has always had the courage of a lion, and during her far-too-short life she fought battles and experienced things that for most of us only exist in our nightmares. She endured and fought tooth and nail and then fought some more. Her courage and resilience are an example to us all. Katy really was the epitome of the lovable rogue and she touched many people in a positive way even though at times she wouldn’t agree. Katy’s life and her passing has not been in vain as she has reunited many of her family.
Katy’s passing leaves a hole in our hearts that cannot ever be filled and she is loved beyond knowledge. Katy was a huge uncut diamond that never got to be polished. But that doesn’t diminish her in the slightest; she is and always will be unique and priceless.
Dearest Katy, you are safe now with no more fear, pain, or battles; you’ve earned your rest.
This isn’t goodbye, as you would say,
“Catch ya later”
