May 10, 2020—Calgary, Alberta
It is with a profound sense of sadness and loss that we announce the passing of our dearest husband, Dad, Opa, and UrOpa, Karl Kazmaier on Sunday, May 10, 2020. Karl passed peacefully of natural causes at the Newport Harbour Care Centre in Calgary, Alberta.
Karl immigrated to Calgary with his young family in 1956. They maintained close contact with family in Germany, but also put down deep roots in their new home. Karl worked for nearly thirty years for Dome Petroleum in the accounting and financial services departments. He and his family were encouraged by the ministrations of Thornhill Baptist Church, Brentview Baptist Church, and particularly Bethany Chapel where Karl and Lilo, his wife of nearly seventy years, attended since 1975.
Karl is survived by his beloved wife Lieselotte “Lilo” nee Krakehl; his children, Peter (Kathryn), Wilfred (Andrea), Susan (Garry); his grandchildren, Michael (Alyssa), Philip (Jennifer), Darren, Daniel (Connie), Alex, Ben (Rachel), Tobias; his great-grandchildren, Adia, Nolen, Abigail, Walter; his brother Horst Kazmaier; his brother-in-law Willi Krakehl; his cousin Brigitte Reis; his nephews and nieces, Klaus Mueller (Roswitha), Dagmar Keller (Thomas), Gisela Herget (Michael), Ulrike Krakehl (Roger), and Joachim Krakehl (Barbara). Karl was pre-deceased by his siblings Traudel Lingenfelder, Manfred Kazmaier and Johanna Mueller.
Those who knew Karl well, knew he was a humble man of quiet, but deep faith. His profound and unwavering trust in his Lord Jesus Christ was an inspiration and blessing to those closest to him. In the midst of our grief and sorrow at his passing, we are encouraged by the sure hope in Christ we will see him again and look forward to that day. As his children, we love Dad and deeply appreciated his love of Mom and us.
The family would like to express their heart-felt thanks to Dr. Don Stinton and the amazing staff at the Newport Harbour Care Centre for their care of Dad. They work tirelessly and with great compassion during these Coronavirus restrictions.
