Joseph Conti

Joseph Conti passed away peacefully on December 21, 2022 at Agape Hospice in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 83 years. He was born July 31, 1939 in Paola, Malta. He married Erminia on August 15, 1959 in Malta. He worked as a mechanic in his father’s garage for many years before moving on to work for BP (British Petroleum), REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) and eventually opened his own garage. In 1982 he moved his family to Calgary and worked at Auto Repair Square for many years. In 1992 Joe and his wife moved back to Malta where he worked for Lada Motors and enjoyed the Mediterranean lifestyle - enjoying the sea on his boat, hunting with his friends and engaging with family at the beach. He retired in 2000 and in 2001, the Contis moved back to Calgary where they continued their retirement.

What Joe loved most was spending time with family. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren and would laugh and play along with them. Joe also thoroughly enjoyed travelling and often travelled to Montana for a weekend getaway. Around the city, Joe and Erminia could often be found near Ghost Lake or going for a bbq in Kananaskis. He was always working on a project around the house or tinkering with his cars.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Erminia; his three children: Louis, Catherine, and Debbie; nine grandchildren: Brian (Steph), Crystal, Ashley (Kurstan), Denise (Matthew), Constantine (Dorothy), Cassandra (Jorrie), Andrea (Joe), Cameron, and Celine; seven great grandchildren: Eve, Jake, Ayla, Lakeisha, Blake, Jonah, and Ivy; his sisters: Frida, Tessie, Mary, Carmen, Lina and his brother Mario and their children.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, Catherine and Louis “Gigi”; his sister Lola; and brothers in law Raymond, George, and Ninu.

Joseph Conti was a man who touched the lives of many people in a positive way and he will be greatly missed.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at Foster’s Garden Chapel 3220 4 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery).
