We are saddened and grieved by the sudden loss of our beloved sister, aunt and great aunt, Joan Edith Dickson on Sunday, December 9, 2012. Joan will be sorrowfully missed by her twin sister Jean Margaret, Calgary; sister Mary Louise (Donald) Lang, Courtnay, BC; brother Bruce Dickson, Denver CO and former sister in-law Kay Dickson, Centennial, CO. Joan was born at the Royal Alec Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. In 1952, Joan began her work career at Motor Car Supply in Calgary and from there to Texaco, where she was secretary in the Exploration Department. She retired after 36 years. Joan loved nature and enjoyed Thoreau’s writings. Joan was a very special person to her many nieces and nephews: Susan Lang, Courtenay, BC; Andrea (Clive) Gammon, Courtenay, BC; Barbara (Blair) MacLean, West Van, BC; Graham (Caroline) Lang, Grenoble, France; Dana (Doug) Knauff, Parker, Co; Darren (Lauren) Dickson, Nashville TN; Todd (Heather) Dickson, Nashville, TN; Shelley (Kevin) Moore, Calgary, AB; great nieces and nephews: Meghan and Allison Phillips; Bryce, Trent and Lindsay Gammon; Erica, Janna and Colin MacLean; Sophia, Katrina and Mira Lang; Bryce, Garrett and Hayden Lowry; Stella and Ozi Dickson and Henry and Lily Dickson. Joan will be cremated and her remains will be laid to rest in the Edmonton Cemetery alongside her parents. A family Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at a later date.
