Mrs. Jindi Zhang (张金娣) was born and grew up in Shanghai, China, to a loving family with five siblings. Tragically her birth mother passed away when she was very young. Being the oldest child, Jindi took the responsibility to help raise the siblings. Over many years, she remained a strong pillar of her family and was the most favorite 阿姐 to all the siblings.
Jindi had a very fulfilling career at the Donghua University, where she met and married Mr. Weiquan Zhu (祝伟权), the father of her children: daughter Hong Zhu (祝红) and son Honghai Zhu (祝宏海). With her love and encouragement, both children pursued higher education abroad and eventually settled in Canada.
In 1998, Jindi retired from the university and, together with her husband, immigrated to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and resided with her daughter’s family. The following 27 years brought significant happiness and satisfaction to Jindi. She and her husband helped raise grandchildren, providing unconditional love, tireless childcare, and wise developmental guidance to all the offspring. Positivity, resilience, compassion, care, respect for all people - these are the characters Jindi instilled in people around her. The purest of souls!
Jindi was also extremely talented. With her gentle heart, her crafted silk roses were so vivid they seemed to breathe, her stitched garments looked so magical to us all. Every delicate petal perfectly placed and curated, they were a true testament of her quiet artistry and love of creation. She remained the top player of the Chinese Checkers in the family. We were very lucky to witness mom’s or grandma’s incredible mind and beauty through all her creations.
Jindi (“Abu”, referred to by her grandchildren) has occupied a unique and irreplaceable role in everyone’s life. We love and miss our mother or grandmother so much, eternally!
With Jindi’s passing, she leaves behind her daughter Hong, grandson Vincent Czyz (祝荣华) and granddaughter in-law Elle Czyz, granddaughter Sonia Czyz (祝英华); her son Honghai and daughter in-law Erica, grandson Kevin Zhu (祝凯文) and granddaughter Carrie Zhu (祝凯丽).
A private family service was held.
