Our family is overwhelmed with sadness as we say goodbye to the amazing man we knew and loved as a husband, father, son, and brother. With gratitude and respect for a good life, well lived, we know that others also mourn our loss. Some of you knew Jeff as a friend or colleague and today, we share the pain of your grief. Like his family, you recognized in Jeff a selfless soul who always put others before himself. All of us lived better lives because of Jeff’s presence and example.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Raelene; his two incredible and adored sons, Aidan and Evan; in-laws Caroline and Ray Colliver; brothers Jim and John; and many nieces and nephews. Jeff was predeceased by his mother Betty; father James (Mac), and sister Jeanne.
As a young man, Jeff pursued many outdoor activities. He excelled at skiing and enjoyed hiking and camping. Charming and personable, Jeff developed deep and lasting friendships. Some of those friendships, including those with Perry, Doug, and Cliff, were with people Jeff has known since childhood.
Jeff graduated from U of C with a Bachelor of Arts degree and an Honours in English. His career in the banking industry started at CIBC and culminated with his work as a Wealth Protection Specialist with Servus. Jeff took his work very seriously. Years of dedicated study enabled him to develop the financial planning skills necessary to earn his Certified Financial Planner designation.
Today, we mourn all that Jeff brought to our lives. We also remember, and celebrate, all that he loved. And that list is long. Jeff loved reading, skiing, and being with family and friends. He loved volunteering and travelling. Jeff always enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to cycle on a road bike and completed several triathlons. Some of his best memories were taking his boys to Kids of Steel races.
We also remember the personal gifts Jeff brought to the activities he loved. Jeff was funny, loving, caring, and creative. He was thoughtful and wise. This family man and friend was also consistent. He was our rock; steady and authentic in the choices he made about how he would live his life.
We miss Jeff so much that it hurts. In our pain, Jeff’s family hopes the people who knew and loved Jeff will treasure his memory and seek to move through the world as he did, always ready to offer an extra serving of kindness.
A Celebration of Jeff's Life will be held at Foster's Garden Chapel, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
