On Thursday, May 20, 2021 the last of the generation that raised us well, Jean McLeod, mother to Doreen and Kim, passed after a lengthy and challenging condition. She was caring and tough, in a mixture that keeps us strong and safe, wise and compassionate, dreaming and in the moment. Mom will be sorely missed by daughters Doreen Mary and Kim Michele (Kim), grandchildren Michael (Hollie), Nicki, Lonny (Andrea), Tyler (Chelsea) and Sara (Steve), great-grandchildren Simone, Keaton, Jack, Ben, Mason, Lucy and Annabel. Jean was predeceased by husband Kenneth, grandson James, sister Doreen and parents Mary and Mike.
To family, and large circle of Killarney friends, she was Jenny. Endless hearty meals, blossoming flower gardens, bountiful vegetable gardens, unmeasured and unquestioning kindness and selflessness, first to show up when help was needed, shied from the spotlight, generous and fair to a fault, forgiving, only when forgiveness was earned, but never, ever suffered fools. Those who knew her well knew of the very best BINGO halls, bringing with her an ear-popping ‘BINGO’ when a winner, from the least attention seeking woman in the room. She loved playing Rumoli, Hola and, at Christmas…PIT, affording her endless gales of laughter with the grandkids when she’d ‘forget the rules’. And she especially loved watching politics on the tube.
Thanks to Dr. A. Yip for many years of loving care. Jenny requested no service. When rules allow, the family will meet at her favourite Gramma retreat, Callaway Park, for a day of multi-generational celebration of a life well-lived.
Your love lives on in the eyes of the children.
