Jeanne Dyte

Her sudden passing leaves a big hole in our hearts and in our lives.

The passing of our Mom followed the recent loss of another matriarch in the close Dyte/Sima family – our beloved Auntie Elaine Sima (nee Dyte) who passed away on September 20, 2024.

At 90 years young our Mom left us in the most peaceful way one can. No pain, no lingering goodbyes, no loss of independence - she just went to sleep after a laughter filled evening of visiting with family, her heart full of love and her belly still full after being out with her family at the Zubik sisters’ favourite restaurant.

Mom had been on her own for many years having lost her husband and love of her life, Don, in 1996. Though widowed too young she lived her days filled with resilience, love and optimism. She thrived on any time spent with family especially the little ones – grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to be with the little ones. She would talk about how her heart would absolutely glow for hours after being with them.

Always open to new experiences our Mom would respond with an enthusiastic “yup” when asked if she wanted to join in - whether lunch with her friends, going for a drive or joining family on a trip to a distant place. She was always game for a new experience with her family and her friends.

She leaves behind her true legacy of family; daughter Kim Holland (Mark), son Kerry (Carolyn), grandson Chris (Courtney), granddaughter Bretton (Chris), grandson Matthew (Eriko), granddaughter Chloe, and the little ones - great grandchildren Gavin, Evie, Knox, Nash, Ami and Sana. She is also survived by her sisters Anne Currie (nee Zubik) of High River, Alberta and Rose Holland (nee Zubik) of Orange, California and numerous nieces and nephews.

While we miss our Mom immensely and wish she was still with us in person, we are comforted in knowing that her exit from this earthly world was peaceful, pain free and surrounded by her loving family. Her heart was full.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Prayer Service held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Ascension Catholic Parish (1100 Berkshire Boulevard NW, Calgary) on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Queen's Park Cemetery.
