Today, the 25th of June, I have only now learned that I will not see Jarrid in Oceanside this coming July. My wife and I were rocked at the profoundly sad news of the passing of this young and exemplary man who, at not even half our age; and,to be seen sharing the beach with for only one week a year,  could have easily been regarded as a mere acquaintance; and yet - it sucked the air from us as we read the news on the internet. He was that kind of guy-you could see him once a year and the next time you saw him it was like you just picked up a conversation where you left off twelve months earlier. I so looked forward to seeing him again and learning about his past year and if he still was taking to the roads on his bike. I am sure that in his life, he left many graces to the world and those around him. To his family and friends, we give you our deepest condolences and remind you that we will remember a genial and calming man about whom we knew too little, and for too short a time. For us, he will remain a man to remember for years to come. We will dedicate many quiet moments on the beach to him.

I remember this one time, we were in California and going to Disneyland, him and me with his two kids. It was a while ago. Anyways, we were going on Splash Mountain and it was Jaxon's first rollercoaster. So the whole time we were going through the ride, he kept saying, "Alright, Jax, when we go down the slide, you have to put your arms in the air and scream." So we got to the actual rollercoaster part of it, and poor Jaxon wasn't doing anything. Right before we went down it, Uncle Jarrid grabbed ahold of Jaxon's arms, held them in the air, and startted screaming. It was the most funny thing ever, because little Jaxon had no idea what to do even thoughhis dad had explained it to him a thousand times. Jaxon, we actually have a picture of this. A hero isn't made
You can't train to be one
There is no hero factory
A hero is a small miracle that is born
From the start, they never give up
They aren't mean or brute or sadistic
A hero is loving

This is for you, Uncle Jarrid. I'll always love you to the bottom of my heart, because you are my hero. Just know that I'm counting down the time it takes to see you again

So sorry for your loss. I have known Jarrid for about 5 years and I know he adored his son. I enjoyed talking with him while watching our son's play hockey. We talked a lot about hunting and were even discussing a possible hunting trip together. He wash telling me how proud he was about shooting his elk last fall. I know he had hard times but I learned that he did have a heart of gold. I will honour him on my next hunting trip.

I remember the first time I met Jarrid - he was only 4 or 5, a real cutie who insisted on showing me the 'right' way to play their video games and pointing out which cats were the best behaved. Looking through the photos is wonderful and difficult all at the same time - he and Grace and Jaxon look so happy together with their great big smiles... he's lucky to have had so much love and laughter in his life. You must miss him terribly. Our thoughts are with Jarrid's family and friends, and especially his two little ones.

Sue and Ab I can say it was honor and a privilage to meet your son.  Even though it was a short time.  He was a very caring individual.  I am so sorry for your loss.

There is a place in your hearts that will always shine for that is the place where Jerrid's spirit lives on. In this time of great saddness may you all find peace in knowing that he is always there with you. Our prayers are with you all that you may find comfort in the love that you all shared for Jarrid. He was such remarkable and courageous man.
