Jane was born November 8th, 1948 in Weyburn Saskatchewan to Charlie Thompson and Doris Thompson. Doris Thompson’s parents were Sam and Annie Lowes, owners and operators of the famous Star Bakery located on main street Weyburn, between the Legion and Soo Theater.
The family relocated to Regina in 1954 when her father, a World War II pilot, joined Saskatchewan Airways to fly air ambulances. He later went on to fly for Mobil Oil and in 1959 was promoted to Chief Pilot Mobil Oil Canada. It was at this time the family moved to Calgary, Alberta. They purchased a new show home the next year on what was the city outskirts (near 19th street NW). Jane and her brother, Wayne grew up here and Jane subsequently moved back into the house and fully renovated it a few years ago.
Jane has spent her life living in NW Calgary. She did her elementary schooling at Cambrian Heights and Collingwood, middle schooling at Senator Patrick Burns Jr High, then went to William Aberhart High School. After graduation, she went to the University of Alberta and completed a degree in Recreational Administration in 1972.

She was a longtime member of the Calgary Winter Club and founding member of Country Hills Golf Club. She had a long and distinguished career with Mobil Oil and Exxon Mobil regarding land matters.
