Jim is survived by his wife Sue, daughter Kaitlan (J.M. Boothby), sons James and Lucas (Juliana Chan) and the apple of grandpa’s eye his grand-daughter Sydney. Jim is survived by three sisters in Saltash, England, his extended family in the United States and Australia and his many nieces and nephews. Spending time with family near the ocean was the hi-light of many vacations.
Jim was born in Somerset, England immigrating to Canada in 1980. He arrived with his bricklaying tools, a sense of adventure, determination and work ethic to start a new life. He studied power engineering, joining Shell in 1983, beginning a highly successful career in oil and gas facilities with Suncor, PetroChina Canada and Sinopec in Syria.
Jim’s drive to challenge himself was fueled by many years participating in Ironman Triathlons in Penticton, Calgary and Coeur d’Alene. He could always be found with his notebooks, striving to beat his best time.
With all his great personal and professional successes, Jim’s strength was his family. His wonderful sense of humour, quick wit and endless love for his wife, children and grand-daughter was in everything he did.
“For Cornish sons and daughters bound homewards to the west
The sight of Tamar’s waters stirs longings in the breast.
So, I’ll cry aloud for England and sing God Save the Queen
But my heart belongs to this Cornish land
Where the Tamar flows serene”
