Jim passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on October 17, 2011 at the age of 72 years, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born on January 25, 1939 in Castor, Alberta, son of Gladys and John. As a young man, Jim moved to Calgary where he joined the Calgary Police Service in 1958. He married Pat in Stavely, Alberta in 1965. He is survived by his sisters Irene and Iris of British Columbia. Jim was a loving husband of forty-five years to Pat and father to their children Ryan (Napanee, ON), Kari (Calgary) and Teri-lynn (Calgary). He was committed to several outdoor endeavors with friends, road trips and was always involved with his children's activities. Jim was also a loving grandfather to eight grandchildren. He will be dearly remembered by all. Jim was passionate and dedicated to his work with the Calgary Police Service for thirty-two years. In retirement, Jim also enjoyed many other activities including working with the Church Ranches Homeowners Association. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 1407 – 7 Avenue N.W. Calgary on Friday October 21, 2011 at 1:00pm. Parking will be available at the Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Centre, 1320 – 5 Avenue N.W. Calgary. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made directly to Calgary Police Benevolent Fund, c/o 133 – 6 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2Z 4J1. The family extends thanks and gratitude to friends and family for their support through this difficult time.
