It is with great sadness that the family of Jameel “Jim” Houssian announces his passing in the early morning of Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Chinook Hospice. Jim loved life and in particular loved his visits from both his children and grandchildren. Jim should be remembered as the Man with a Golden Heart. He was both a very kind and gentle man and a true gentleman all in one. Jim was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back and in return ask for nothing. He would never complain of pain or anything else even when suffering from cancer, and when given the poor prognosis of his condition Jim’s words were usually “So what” and “You have to die sometime.” In the end his greatest love, was to just sit back and watch sports on TV and you did not dare get in his way when watching them. Also a great John Wayne fan Jim’s last few days, consisted of watching John Wayne movies. Jim is survived by his five children, Robert James, Nancy Jane, Elaine Jeannette, David Alex, and Jameel Clifford; sister, Bea Fox (nee Houssian) and several nephews and nieces; grandchildren from two marriages and finally the families of - Robert Houssian, Nancy (Ross) Chapman, Elaine (Richard) Murray, David Houssian and Jameel (Leslie Barron) Houssian. We would also like to embrace the family of Charles and Valerie Stark, to whom we give our greatest love and thanks, for the love and care they showed dad from the day he married into their family until the day that he passed away. “Thank You.” A Celebration of Jim’s Life was held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 3:00p.m. Interment followed at Queen’s Park Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Chinook Hospice, 1261 Glenmore Trail S.W., Calgary, AB T2V 4Y8. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
