I remember uncle jack for helping me and my family move to low rentals in Edmonton. Sharon must have been fifteen years old at the time it was about 1978.

My name is Sharay ... lived down the hall from Jack and so enjoyed his humor...intelligence and ALWAYS his conversation, plus the fact he was a gentleman....also from my observations ...A GENTLE MAN.   It was difficult watching Jack go downhill with his respiratory problems as I have never got over watching my husband suffer then losing him, with seemingly no help when he should have had it.  However.....that is not what I wish to speak of...  

I have a very special memory of Jack in the summer of 2008.  I am a night owl usually up until after 3:00 am.  I had been out with a girlfriend...a very hot and beautiful summer evening ....as I approached the building around 1:30 AM, there sat Jack on the bench outside the building.   I sat down next to him and we talked for a very long time, as usual I always found him very interesting. 

Probably an hour passed and the automatic sprinkler system came on all around us..We  continued to enjoy the atmosphere of the night and the  cool mist from the spray felt good.  It wasn't long before Jack said...."Look at the way the water beads reaching toward the sky show the colors of the rainbow ...."  This reminded me of my husband as he always saw the beauty of the earth...as did Jack. I was so very moved by this, as Jack under the roughed up hair, baseball cap, and hardworking hands....saw and enjoyed the beauty of the early morning moon reflecting down with the beeds of water from the sprinklers that looked like diamonds and rainbows as they reached for the sky...allowing us to enjoy and appreciate this special evening. 

This was a moment I saw Jack through different eyes...a very special man with qualities usually hidden.  ..We continued  to sit for a very long time and Jack commented on how the moon was reflecting down on this, enhancing the beauty of the early morning approaching, we both so enjoyed,.

As Jack's health continued to decline I felt terrible, as he was..as I also learned, a very proud man.  I would ask him if he wanted milk or anything and he would say he didn't need anything, but I would just buy the milk, give him the odd treat and myself and another lady Betty, watched out for him, as over time he was struggling. When in the Foothills I  called  him a few times and he sounded good...it was good to be able to talk with him.  

I miss Jack very much and will continue to miss him,.  Men like him are not too plentiful...he had integrity.  I hope this is not too long, but I truly enjoyed many evenings talking and laughing with him and will always remember and miss him.  

My sincere heartfelt sorrow for your loss, If I can't be there to pay my respects, please know I do so from the heart.
