I have fond memories of visiting Bragg Creek as a boy, enjoying great moments with Uncle Henry watching Football or Hockey on TV or just talking(usually about sports) or those totally amazing breakfasts he would make. Unforgettable hospitality and warm family moments.

Dear Sharon, Ryan and Colin- I have such fond memories of your Dad. He (and of course you Sharon)…we’re such loving, genuine and life long friends to my mom, Barb. She adored Henry and thought the world of you both as cherished kindred spirits. When she was ill, your friendship and care for her was heartwarming and greatly appreciated. May Henry Rest In Peace and your memories and love for him comfort you. Lots of love, Kelly (Jenkins)  family. 

So sad to hear of your loss Sharon,Ryan, and Colin. So many memories and laughs to cry over. Your dog ...antifreeze...vodka treatment... bad drunk singing in kennel. Volleyball in the yard. Skiing at Lyon Mt...Wintergreen. Visits to the dump in Bragg. Our sincere condolences.

My deepest sympathies to all of Henry's family.     It's been many years since I have  seen him but the memories of all the fun times with the group which he was a part of in the early  to mid 1960's  have never left me.   Rest in peace Henry.   

So sorry to hear of Henry’s passing. He was always so kind to my mum who lived next door to him at Southwood. When she first arrived, he made sure she felt welcome and watched over her, letting me know if he had any concerns for her or that she was having a good day. My visits at Southwood were not complete without a quick hello. He will be greatly missed. 

I have so many cherish memories of Henry but here are two.  Henry and I met the first full day of school for grade one. I can still see this kid with a brush cut holding a soccer ball saying will you play with me. We both got the strap for kicking the ball against the school.  We were Calgary Highlander Cadets. On a scheme. The Lieutenant said to all Total silence from here on in and Henrys group exited the truck.  Then those of us still on the truck heard in the silence, I hate to see you go I hate to see you go, then a loud slap!  It was Henry.  I HATE TO SEE YOU GO! I HATE TO SEE YOU GO.

Henry aka “Hank the Shank” was a friend of mine since we were at Western Canada High School.  Hank was always ready to participate in any of our adventures over the years. Climbing mountains in Banff…parties of all sorts…shaving our heads just for the fun of it…you name it and Hank was right in the middle of it. He was never one to sugarcoat anything and could be brutally honest and stubborn. When I was on deaths door 6 years ago, Henry  would call me in Texas and cheer me up. I survived and never forgot those calls. I am proud to call Henry one of my best friends. R.I.P. Hank.

First I want to share my sincere condolences to the family of Henry, truly sorry for your loss. Secondly, I can’t believe this spitfire of a man is no longer here. My whole time in recreation at Southwood, I knew Henry. He was helpful, stubborn, kind, thoughtful and down right funny! I’ve asked about him periodically since I’ve left my position over 2 years ago. There were many residents who had impacted me and left me wondering how they were and he was one of them. I remember going to visit on weekends with my son after I resigned, and it never felt like I left! Henry was so kind to my son and made sure he never left empty handed. He loved him and I was proud of the relationships I built with him and the other gang that he  was always around. Henry was my right hand man always helping me with bowling. It was him and I in the Bonavista unit each week!  When I went to the other unit to work on at the end of the building, he would make his way each week to help me with that bowling as well. If he couldn’t make it, he made sure to find me, or send me a message through someone. Truly dedicated and upstanding that way. I’m so glad to have many memories with Henry, and thankful for all the times we spent laughing together! Making the best out of a not so best situation.
