Helen Aileen Edwards

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandma, great-grandma and sister. Helen passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the George Boyack Long Term Care Facility in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 89 years.

Helen was born in Donalda, Alberta on April 13, 1927. She is survived by her sister Evelyn (Bob) Breech; her children, Douglas Edwards, Brian (Debra) Edwards, Carole (Bob) Collins, Deborah (Bob) Nedeljak, Ronald Edwards, Dianne (Wayne) Shoemaker; her grandchildren, Tracy Edwards, Tammy (Chris) Orom, Terry Edwards, Carrie Edwards, Amanda Allen, Katherine (Shannon) McNaught, Christina (Kyle Johnston) Elliott, Lori (Richard Thome) Elliott, Ryan (Andrea) Shoemaker; her great-grandchildren, Ashlee Godzic, Bri-Ann Godzic, Cody Edwards, Harley Harilstad, Michael Dudra, Griffin Dudra, Shepard Dudra, Bennett Dudra, Cassandra Thome, Ethan Shoemaker and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Clare Edwards, her parents, Ben and Dorothy Vikse, her sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Ivan Valente.

Helen enjoyed her time volunteering, visiting her friends and family and her crafts and sewing. She spent many years volunteering for the Bashaw Golden Age Club/Seniors Centre and the Bashaw Travel Info Booth. Helen lived a very full life. At Helen’s request, cremation will take place and no service will be held.

A Memorial Luncheon will be held to honor Helen’s life by her family and friends. Date and time will be announced at a later time.
