Helen Lora Daum

It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Lora Daum (neé Fischer) announces her passing on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at the age of 88 years. Helen passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre after suffering a brief illness and will be lovingly remembered by her children Heidi (Scott), Hedy (Gaspar), Rudy (Jocelyne) and Rosemarie (Sean), and her sister Claire. She is also remembered by her grandchildren Sharleen (Darryl), Alex (Shirstine), Taylor, Scott, David (Jasmine), Holly, Drew (Sheril), Derek, Camille, Christina (Matthew), Stephanie, Rudy, Kai and Julian, as well as her great-grandchildren Asha, Arun, Aurora, Adalynn and Everett. Helen’s memory will be forever held by her numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends. She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Hans Daum, her son John Jr., and her loving sisters Linda and Adele.

Helen Fischer was born and raised in Montreal, and married John Daum in 1956. Together they built a meaningful life for their family, as they raised five children and founded a family business together. Helen’s love of the arts was always present in her life, through her beautiful paintings, her songwriting and love of music, the handcrafted gifts she would make for her loved ones, and the delicious meals she made. Her faith in God was an important part of her life, and her smile lit up every room she entered. Helen’s innumerable contributions to the hearts and lives of her family will be forever cherished.

Due to COVID restrictions, a Private Funeral will be held with the Reverend Cornel van Eyk officiating. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
