Heidi was lovingly adopted by Josef and Ria Kussman and grew up in Calgary. Heidi, in her teens, and her parents moved to an acreage in Dickson, AB. There her love for horses and music, especially singing, flourished. After high school, she married and had two lovely children, Tanya and Curt. Heidi later moved to Calgary, where she pursued a career in the IT industry supporting a host of Oil and Gas companies.
Her free spirit led her to love traveling, mainly south-bound to Arizona and Vegas, where the excitement, heat and mesmerizing beauty of the desert tugged at her heart.
Heidi had a soft spot for everyone she knew, and even made time for those she didn’t. She was a kind and generous soul, full of humour and endless stories. She could spark conversation about anything. Heidi’s laugh will be deeply missed.
Heidi is lovingly remembered by her daughter Tanya Thurmeier and her husband Steven, son Curt Westergaard and his girlfriend Jaclynn, grandchildren Jacob, Gracie, Iris, Denim, Wyatt and Benjamin, as well as countless relatives and friends.
