Grace Alvina Helmer

Grace passed away unexpectedly at the Pincher Creek Municipal Hospital on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the age of 83 years. Grace was born in Springridge, Alberta on October 5, 1932 and was the second child of Leon and Theresa LeBel. Grace graduated in 1950 and become a nursing aid. On August 26, 1953, in Pincher Creek, Grace married Herbert Helmer. Grace and Herbert had three children, Dan, Nick and Byron. Grace is the grandmother and great-grandmother to five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is predeceased by her parents, Leon and Theresa LeBel and brothers, Edward LeBel and Lionel LeBel. Grace is survived by her husband, Herbert Helmer; sons, Daniel (Diana) Helmer, Nicholas Helmer and Byron (Sosan) Helmer; grandchildren, Matthew Helmer, Christopher (Megan) Helmer, Jeffrey Helmer, Tamara (Mike) Leech, Sarah Helmer; great-grandchild, Mason Leech; and sisters, Nettie Cebryk, Leona Young and Marjorie Pelletier. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a Visitation held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at the same location on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
