We are saddened to announce the passing of Gordon William Waddell on Friday, November 19, 2021 in Calgary. Gordon is survived by his wife Lila (nee Sheepy); daughter Roberta (Sheldon); brother Ronald; and sister Shirley Gray. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Doris Waddell, and brother-in-law Earl Gray.
Gord spent most of his life on the family farm south of Calgary in the district of Red Deer Lake. He worked as a contractor for The City of Calgary for over 40 years. In Gord's younger years he was a radio disc jockey, obtained his certificate in aviation, and travelled abroad. After retirement he enjoyed visiting warm destinations, spending time on the farm and tinkering with his collection of antique John Deere tractors and Edsel cars. Gord also took pleasure in many visits with his cousins and many lifelong friends. He will be remembered for his humour and lighthearted attitude.
A private family service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be announced in the upcoming year at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Gord’s memory directly to the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
