She was predeceased by her loving husband, Terry. Together they had five children, Ken Lee (Christine), Linda Tse (Martin), Jerry Lee (Monica), Dr. Barry Lee (Jeannie), Sandra Lee-Chong (Dr. Alan Chong); nine grandchildren, Warren Tse (Jiajia), Eric Lee, Adrienne Watson (Brent), Dr. Justin Lee, Dr. Samantha Lee, Brianna Lee, Dr. Byron Lee, Montana Chong and Davis Chong; and two great grandchildren, Oliver Watson and Isla Watson.
Gam Yee was born in Taishan, China and shared an adventurous upbringing with three older brothers and two younger sisters. As a child, she loved going to school and discovering new things about the world around her. Later in her retirement years, she attended English classes having had fond memories of learning and always looked forward to doing her homework at the end of the day. After immigrating to Calgary in 1965, Gam Yee and Terry founded two successful restaurants: Lantern Chinese Food and Chop Suey House. She loved raising her children and grandchildren, as well as caring for her great grandchildren. Her goal in life was to support her family and to ensure that her children live a better life than hers for the future generations to come and she far exceed her goal. She truly was an amazing mother and had a genuine quality that made everyone feel special. Gam Yee will be greatly missed by all and will be remembered as a kind-hearted and compassionate woman who always put others before herself.
Special thanks to Dr. Sy Lam for his professional care that went above and beyond the call of duty, and for the exceptional care she received at the Wing Kei Care Centre.
