Ernie is survived by his loving wife Lorna of 37 years, five brothers and sisters - Vic (Marilyn), Adeline (Harv), Orlene, Joyce, Wayne (Diane), several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews.
Ernie was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on August 11, 1954. He married his wife Lorna on August 1, 1987, in Fort McMurray, Alberta and lived in Fort McMurray until retiring in 2010.
Ernie began his career with Syncrude in 1979 as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He then obtained his Welder Ticket while working in Mine Mobile, and ended his career as a Team Leader in the Mine Equipment Maintenance Shop at Aurora until he retired in 2010.
They then moved to Cochrane, Alberta to spend glorious years enjoying the mountains during the summer and bought a vacation home in Florida to enjoy for the winter months.
Ernie was an adventurer at heart. Whether it was boating, winter sports, or piloting an airplane, he enjoyed it all. He was a thrill seeker, cruising in his corvette or motoring on his motor bike. Ernie was an avid golfer, fisherman, poker player, enjoyed his newly found passion of bonsai gardening, volunteered at Big Brothers, played chess, and Mah Jong. He never did anything halfway and lived every moment to it fullest. Ernie was a Christian man and enjoyed attending the Cochrane Alliance Church. Time spent with his spiritual brothers at the Alliance Wingman Group meant so much to him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
