With much love and fond memories we say goodbye to Erika, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend at the age of 52 years. Her long and courageous battle with breast cancer came to an end Saturday and she is now at peace.
She was a locally grown girl being born and raised in Calgary. Upon graduating from Lord Beaverbrook High School she went on to study Library Arts at S.A.I.T. She started her career with Nova Corp. which then merged with TransCanada Pipelines in 1998. She truly enjoyed her position as a business analyst, so much so that she continued working at home on a part-time basis during her illness. She will miss her team that she was fortunate to work with. She loved nature, travelling and cooking. She planned all the family vacations and a recent highlight was travelling to New York in late March.
Erika is survived by her loving husband David; daughter Jacklyn; parents Waltraud and Alfred Krentz; brothers Al (Margaret) & Bob (Arlene); sister Angie; mother-in-law Sheila; brother-in-laws Kyle(Lynn) and Drew; sister-in-law Kathie Earnshaw (Doug) along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father-in-law Brian and family pet Ginger.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of the Intensive Palliative Unit 47 of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. Of special note she wanted to thank her amazing and compassionate primary doctors: Oncologist Dr. Marc Webster and Naturopath Dr. Matt Pyatt (Grassroots Naturopathic).
In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice in her name. A Celebration of Erika's life was held at St. Andrews United Church, 924 Heritage Drive SW, Calgary on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. Erika requested that everyone attending wear bright spring colours - “no black”.
