It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Erika Elizabeth Herr. Erika’s struggle with mental illness is now over. May you finally rest in peace my lovely girl.
Erika was predeceased by her Mom, Susan Jackson in April 2018. She leaves behind her aunt and uncle, Ken and Karen Steinhauer who raised her, supported her and will forever love her. She will also be missed by her father, Doug Herr, her maternal grandfather Jack Jackson, and half-brother Jordan Frazier in Whitehorse, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Erika faced many challenges, but she was always steadfast and focused on how she would work through them. Whether is was cuddling with her cat, Chloe, or playing hide and seek with Lizzie or Kona, Erika always tried to find a way to display that wry little smile. Her shoe collection was large and varied. Erika looked forward to the annual Steinhauer picnic each year, another special time for her.
We would like to thank all our friends and family that offered support and love to Erika and ourselves over the last several years. You may not realize it, but it meant so much to Erika to be connected to you.
Special thank you to everyone at Supported Lifestyles, especially to India, Courtney, Amanda and Heather, who were there for Erika on this difficult journey. You were more than her support group; you were her good friends.
We still have a long way to go to support those individuals suffering with mental illness. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Calgary Food Bank.
