Eric Clifford Petersen passed away at the Father Lacombe Care Centre surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the age of 78 years. Eric was born in Olds, AB to Ferdinand and Greta where he grew up on the family farm. He was the youngest of nine children, survived by brother, Howard, predeceased by his siblings, Julia, Kye, Emil, Art, Jerry, Paul and Edith. Eric was always active growing up. In 1951 he joined the Canadian Navy where he was trained in communications. Ontario, Skeena and Saginaw were great navy ships that he sailed on. Eric was proud to be a Canadian Veteran. He obtained his business degree in Victoria and managed the Summit Hotel in Calgary and worked at AGT (Telus) until his retirement in 1988. Eric was a leader, outgoing, generous, intelligent, always spoke his mind, a good friend to many, loved his family and was very proud of his children and made it known. Eric is lovingly remembered by his longtime partner, Kay Jones; step son, Jason; first wife, Jo, mother of his children; Charles (Dee) and Kim; grandchildren, Eric, Ellaina and Lauren; second wife, Audrey, mother of his children; Stacey (Jennifer), Tammy (Bruce) and Randy (Carolyn); grandchildren, Nathan, Seth, Soulayah, Natalee, Ashly, Brandon, Dakota and Jade; numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to Father Lacombe Care Centre, 332 – 146 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2X 2A3. The family would like to thank all the staff, especially Jamir, Suzanne, Wendy, Kim, Ginette, Inga and Linda of Father Lacombe Care Centre for all their love and care for the past nine years.
