Roy passed away peacefully on Easter Monday at 91 years of age. He was born in Vancouver and grew up in Victoria attending Lampson Street School and Esquimalt High School. Roy moved to Calgary in 2000 and for the last two years resided in the Seniors Residence at the Colonel Belcher Veterans Home.
He served as an aircraft mechanic with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1943 – 1945 at Lethbridge, St. Thomas and Comox. After the War, in 1945, Roy attended Sprott-Shaw Business College and then got a job with the provincial government and worked in the Department of Finance for over 25 years. He was predeceased by his wife Hilda in October 2000. They were married 53 years.
Roy and Hilda had one child, Karen (Edgar) Laugher and 2 granddaughters, Kailee and Kelsey that were the apple of their eyes. They enjoyed many years of square dancing and made many friends along the way.
