Ellen Jean Freeman passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the age of 82 years. Family had gathered to be with her and she was ready for her next adventure.
Ellen was born in Montreal in 1939, the eldest child of Morris and Jean Taylor. She was the matriarch of the family spanning all the generations. Life offered many challenges but her fighting spirit served her well and she faced obstacles head on. Her brothers always stood with her, helping where and when they could.
Ellen proudly raised four children which for the most part, was accomplished solo. She also took in any soul she felt needed help, both human and animal. If there is a rainbow bridge, it was jammed with many happy souls to see her again.
Ellen was an accomplished worrier and kept tabs on everyone she cared about to ensure all was as it should be. This passionate protection extended beyond bloodlines and included workmates and her condo family. She loved hard and that love was returned in kind.
Ellen will be lovingly remembered by her children Danny, Charlene, Gerry, and Tracey; her brother Jack Taylor; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, some nieces and a nephew who were also big fans. Ellen always loved Cheryl Freeman, Kevin Cameron, Claudia Freeman and Dwayne Mitchell and supported this extended family we brought into her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220-4 Street N.W. Calgary on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 2 p.m.
The City of Calgary Vaccine Passport Bylaw 65M2021, requires all individuals attending funeral services to provide COVID-19 proof of vaccination, or proof of a privately paid negative test result taken within 72 hours of service, or documentation of medical exemption.
