It is with irreparable hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Edward Loor at his home in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on November 22, 2020 at the age of 77 years old. Despite his over 25-year battle with Atrial Fibrillation, Ed was still very optimistic that the future had yet to bring him a number of good years to share with family and friends. Even though Countries like The Netherlands, where his daughters Muriel and Pem-Alice were born, and Canada, where his sons Clinton and Roger were born, gave his children more opportunities, Ed's heart truly remained in this birthplace, the paradise of Aruba. But who can blame him? With its warm, sunny shores and its blessed natural beauty, it truly makes it one happy island.
Throughout his life Aruba often called his name. Although it meant losing time with his beloved wife Marjo and children, Aruba gave him the opportunity to provide for this family while connecting with his brother, Ernst, his ancestry and friends. He recently spoke about going back with Marjo once he had received his vaccine for COVID-19.
Throughout his life, Ed's entrepreneurial spirit always had him thinking up ideas that would financially give him the opportunity to buy a large property on the island so that his large family could share in the bountiful sunshine on a regular basis. He imagined his nine grandchildren, Tineke, Maximiliaan, Antonie, Nathan, Alexander, Colin, Emily, Henry and Gwyneth, playing in the white sand and soaking up the sun. Regardless of the fact that he could not read music, Ed spent countless hours learning cords on his guitar, and warming the hearts of those around him with his music. Ed was very much a social butterfly, speaking four languages, drumming up conversation with whomever he was in contact with, wherever he went. Even with his ever-changing perception of life after death, we hope that Ed is able to rest peacefully with his cherished parents Muriel Georgine Lejuez and Wilhelm Frederik Loor.
