Earl was born on his parent's farm near Springfield, MB in the same farmhouse bedroom his father was born in. When Earl was 8 years old, his family moved to Agassiz, BC where his father worked at the Canadian Federal Research Farm. Both Earl and his brother Vern started to fly small planes while in Agassiz. His brother, Vern, continued on to be a commercial pilot while Earl went on to become a Civil Engineer. He graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1953. This same year Earl married the love of his life, Evelyn.
Earl's engineering career enabled him and Ev to see many places around the world. They lived in several cities in both Canada and the US going “where the work was” and raising their children. Earl and Evelyn spent many of their retirement years in Vancouver, BC. They moved back to Calgary 10 years ago to be nearer to family. Sadly, Earl was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn and a grandchild, Stacey.
Earl will be lovingly remembered by his three children Lynn (son-in-law Bill), Dave (Leslie partner) and John (daughter-in-law Erin). He will also be remembered by his four grandchildren Dan (wife Vren), Shannon, Corinne (husband Justin) and Logan (wife Kailey). Logan and Kailey recently had a son, Owen. Earl was thrilled to have had the chance to meet his great-grandson.
