On June 29, 2021, at the age of 67, Dwayne Hoopfer left this world to join his buddy, Bandit, his father, and other family members who have gone on before him. After a short battle with cancer, he is now at peace.
Dwayne was born January 21, 1954 in Brooks, Alberta. He was raised in the Gadsby and Stettler area by his loving parents Dan and Myrtle Hoopfer. A brother and three sisters joined the family. After high school he went on to forge a banking career with ATB Financial. While working in Brooks he met his wife Ann. They were married in 1974 and were blessed with two sons.
Dwayne loved sports. He played ball, curled and golfed. He was able to go on golf trips with friends for several years. His greatest joy was spending lots of time with his five grandchildren before and after retirement.
Dwayne is survived by his wife Ann, his sons Shane (Debbie) and Travis (Richelle), and grandchildren Xander, Michael, Kameron, Erik and Danika. His is also survived by his mother Myrtle, siblings Laurie (Donna), Betty Lou (Jim), Gayle (Max) and Cindy (Kevin) as well as father-in-law Mogens, sister-in-law Liz (Bob) and brother-in-law Alan. His aunts Elpha (Ron) and Rae as well as fourteen nieces and nephews, their families, and several cousins also survive him. He will be missed by all.
Dwayne requested that there be no formal funeral. Instead his ashes will be buried at the Gadsby Omega Cemetery later this summer. A celebration of his life will follow at the farm of Max and Gayle McMillan.
If friends so desire, memorial donations can be made to a charity of their choice.
