She was born at Gleichen AB to Harry and Florence Brown on April 9, 1916. She had three younger siblings: Fred, Thelma (Bannister), and Robert. During her school years she enjoyed playing sports and was a very competitive player. Dorothy became a registered nurse working at various hospitals, then in 1953 she left to serve as a missionary in Ecuador with Gospel Mission Union (Avant). In 1969, while on furlough, she decided to stay home and care for her mother, who passed away in 1977. During this time she also nursed at the Vulcan Hospital until her retirement in 1981. In 1985 Dorothy married Clarence (Casey) Norton. They lived in Abbotsford BC, but returned to Arrowwood each summer to enjoy time with friends and family. In 2005 they moved to Victoria to live with Casey's daughter, Bonney (Tom). After Casey's passing in 2011 and due to failing health, Dorothy moved into a care facility in Victoria then transferred to Bethany Calgary in 2013 where she resided until her passing. She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, a niece, (Joanne Auvigne), a nephew, (Bruce Brown), and her husband. She is lovingly remembered by many family members and friends.
