Dorothy May was born in Calgary, AB on October 6, 1917 and passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the age of 97 years. She was an independent woman living in her own home until her passing at Foothills Hospital. She was so very proud to be a native Calgarian. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Marilyn Douglas (Murray); grandson Steve Douglas (Julie Daniel) and their children, Jessica and Joel; grandson Layne Douglas (Cathy Huculak) and their children Ella and Audrey; as well as her granddaughter Alecia Douglas (Adrian Box). She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Margaret (nee Hepburn) Peterson; her sister Margaret Anderson and her brother Herbert “Bert” Peterson.
A Celebration of Dorothy May’s Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Calgary Humane Society, 455 - 110 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 2T7, CIBC Run for the Cure, www.supportcbcf.com or to a charity of one’s choice.
