Dorothy was born in Montreal and grew up in Toronto. She spent idyllic summers on a family property in the Thousand Island area. She attended the University of Toronto, studying physiotherapy. During WWII she joined the Canadian Army Medical Corp and served in the U.K., Europe and Canada and settled in Calgary after the war. She worked at Colonel Belcher Hospital where she met her husband, Len Hopkins. She was an active member of the Physiotherapy Association in Alberta. Along with her many friends, Dorothy was an avid hiker, skier, gardener and world traveller. Dorothy is an honorary member of the Seniors Outdoor Club of Calgary. She always had time to be a warm host for visitors to Calgary, showing them the beauty of our land. Dorothy was a long-term member of the St. Barnabas Choir and Altar Guild.
Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her daughter Susan; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and many warm friends and family. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Len Hopkins and her sister Audrey Henderson.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Barnabas Church, 1407 – 7 Avenue N.W., Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., with the Reverend Kersi Bird officiating. Interment to follow at St. Barnabas Memorial Garden.
