Dot was born on April 24, 1920 at Drumheller, AB. Dot was blessed to have married her love, Cyril, on September 11, 1942. They shared many beautiful memories as they travelled to every province in Canada and every state of the USA. They loved to winter in Arizona where they enjoyed many life-long friendships. In later years they would make an annual trek to Alaska to visit friends. Dot loved gathering friends and family around her and was often heard to say, “Come on over, the coffee is on”. Though not a mother, as the eldest of eight, Dot often took on the mothering role to her siblings. Dot leaves behind and will be sadly missed by Cyril, her husband of 71 years; her sisters, Lois, Myrna, and Marlene; brothers, Roy and Jerry; brothers-in-law, Glen and Les, and their families as well as many other family members and friends. Her mother, Jean Thompson, sister Audrey, brother Verne, beloved grandparents Wil and Editha Fairbairn, predeceased Dorothy.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, June 18, at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends and family may make memorial donations in Dorothy’s name to the Bow Crest Care Centre Resident Fund, 5927 Bowness Road N.W., Calgary, AB T3B 0C7 or to the Calgary Veteran’s Food Bank, 1, 4539 - 6 Street N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 3Z6.
