Don was born in Scotfield, Alberta and was raised on the family farm. He married the love of his life, Blanche in 1954. They settled in the community of Glenbrook, where they resided for over 55 years. Don was employed by the PFRA Engineering branch for 36 years. He always kept himself busy, fixing everything and wasting nothing. Don had a love for refurbishing and repairing saddles. Don enjoyed spending time with his wife and pets on the backyard deck, watching the wildlife that he loved to feed.
Don is survived by his children Karen (Ralph) Mason, Jim (Kathy) Cummings, Cheryl (Doug) Leoppky and Alan Cummings; grandchildren Deanna (Brent) Halyk, Katie (Nadim) Lalani, Jessica (Cameron) Barnes, Allison Mason (Kabil Rahaman) and Douglas Leoppky; as well as his seven great-grandchildren. They will miss their beloved “Papa”. He is also survived by his brother Bill and many cherished nieces, nephews and friends. Don is predeceased by his loving wife, Blanche; his sisters Lois, Lorna and Margaret; as well as his parents Sheddon, Mary Cummings,

A Memorial Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4th Street NW, Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
