A dear friend of mine from my high school days- a gentle giantess whose athleticism was matched only by her caring nature. You will forever be a superheroine in my dreams.

Ohhh I almost forgot to add one of your fav shows “The amazing race” did a whole Dakar episode using your original ideas and challenges. They didn’t give you credit 🙄.  But I know you would have loved it either way 😭❤️

It’s been almost 14 years and I still think of you often. I never felt seen by an adult but you saw me. Even when I’d pretend everything was okay looking back you could tell I was being abused. Thank you for giving me a space to cry in. Thank you for validating emotions that I was so ashamed of. Your love and light still warms my heart to this day. I

Ms. Hidson taught both my sons at Elboya School and I am truly saddened to learn of her passing.  I remember her tremendous courage living with such pain.  I saw her a while ago and she asked about both my boys by name.  She was a wonderful person.

Shocked to hear of Debra's passing.  My condolences.  She was a lovely person and a caring soul.

I am so sad and shocked to learn of Debra's passing.  She and I took our Masters degrees together at the U of A, and became fast friends.  She was supportive, compassionate, fun, and fearless.  My thoughts and prayers go to her family and many friends.

I only knew Debra for a short time while volunteering for Junior Achievement and I remember her real passion and drive for helping young people. My deepest and most sincere condolences to her family.

I wish to extend my condolences to Debra's family, especially to her Mom. I was Debra's Principal at Sir Winston Churchill High School and watched her school and basketball career unfold. More recently we have worked in the same building downtown and we stopped and visited with each other whenever we met.I will always carry the picture of our last visit where she showed me how the sculptures in the foyer are mobile...a feature I was not aware of! Debra always contacted me and her Great Uncle Tom and took time out of her busy schedule to see us! Words can't describe the feeling I have in hearing of Debra's passing! I am so sorry to hear of Debra's passing. I really enjoyed working with her on the JA classroom workshops and will miss her in the future. My condolences to eveyone in the family.

I was so saddened by the news this morning of Debra's passing. My deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends. I had the pleasure of coaching Debra at Sir Winston Churchill and continued to watch her play at U of C. I still remember the bright smile and competitive spirit so typical of Debra while she was at Churchill.  A generous and caring person, she will be missed.

My heartfelt condolences to all of you. May Debra's spirit grace all those lives she touched and may she live forever in your hearts.

So shocked and sad at this news. I'm one of Debra's "remote" colleagues and had the pleasure and privilege of working with her on Junior Achievement projects for several years- she in Alberta and me in BC, She was such a positive force- even over the phone or email you just got what a terrific person she was. My heartfelt condolences to all who were lucky enough to know her in person. I will miss her so.
