David was born in Calgary, Alberta on January 28, 1952. He graduated from Bishop Grandin High School in 1969 and, after working for a year, continued on to Notre Dame University College in Nelson, BC where he met his best friend and love of his life, Barbara. They were married in 1972 and were blessed with 45 loving years together. David had a genuine interest in others and a sincere willingness to help. This led to a successful career as a Financial Advisor, where he quickly became a friend to all who knew him. David loved to travel, ski, walk, and mostly spend time with his friends and family.
David was extremely loving and proud of his three children, Keitha (Aaron) Thompson, John (Rebecca) Bowman and Elizabeth Bowman. He is also survived by his wife and best friend, Barbara; his grandchildren, Piper, Finn, and Veronica; his brother Ken (Paula); as well as his nieces Kirsty and Hollis.
A special thank you to the staff in unit 47 at the Rockyview Hospital, especially Darcie Johnston, and the staff at Carewest Signal Pointe for their loving care and support.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Gerard’s Parish, 8944 Elbow Drive SW, on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Please join us in a luncheon to share stories and celebrate David’s life directly after the service in the hall at church.
